Depression hits you like a ton of bricks. The constant weight of it leaves you feeling hopeless with no light in sight at the end of the long tunnel. If you relate to this overwhelming feeling, we are here for you.

At the Kellman Wellness Center in New York City, we use the latest innovative technology, such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), to treat major depressive disorder, anxiety, and other behavioral health conditions.

As a leading clinic for behavioral health in New York, we are here to uncover the root cause of your depression or anxiety and ultimately give you HOPE that you CAN overcome these challenging times.

If you are struggling with depression and or anxiety and conventional medications and treatments have failed, call (212) 717-1118 or contact us online to schedule your first consultation and see if TMS Therapy is right for you.

      What is TMS Therapy?

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive procedure that uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain to help control mood and boost the brain's neurotransmitter levels.

It has been used successfully to treat depression and anxiety in many of our NYC patients, even when other treatments, such as medication, have not worked.

Unfortunately, conventional medications for depression help only a percentage of patients and often come with side effects. TMS eliminates side effects and is far more successful at treating depression and anxiety.

      How does TMS work?

This painless procedure involves the use of an electromagnetic coil, which delivers a safe repetitive magnetic pulse or rTMS, thereby stimulating the regions of the brain that controls mood and depression.

Although the underlying physiological mechanism by which this therapy works is not entirely understood, it is believed that it works by activating the part of the brain that has decreased activity in depression, resulting in improved mood.

      What does TMS Therapy Treat?

Although TMS is FDA-approved to treat depression, a wide variety of clinical research is underway, looking at other applications for its use. Some practitioners, including the Kellman Wellness Center, are using it to successfully treat other conditions such as:

      • Anxiety
      • Bipolar disorder
      • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
      • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
      • Pain management
      • Neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s Disease and Parkinson’s Disease

If you are dealing with any of the above conditions and have yet to find a doctor who will uncover the root cause, and provide symptom relief, call today to speak with one of our TMS specialists.

Why Choose TMS Therapy for Depression and Anxiety?

Although this is a relatively newer therapy, Harvard Medical School estimates that approximately 50-60% of people with depression and anxiety, who have failed to see improvement with medication, do see a meaningful clinical response with TMS.

Further, about one-third of these patients experience complete remission, meaning their symptoms have completely gone away. However, it is acknowledged that while most patients feel significantly better faster or for many months after the completion of their initial round of treatment, some patients will require subsequent, follow-on treatments.

There is a plethora of additional studies that prove how effective TMS therapy is. An extensive review, recently published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, was conducted by 17 expert clinicians. This review included 119 clinical, published studies on TMS and its use for depression and anxiety. They determined that these multiple randomized, controlled trials and associated literature support the safety and clinical efficacy of rTMA as an antidepressant therapy.

Here at the Kellman Wellness Center, we take a multifactorial approach to treating depression and anxiety by combining TMS and IV Therapy. IV Therapy has been proven to be a safe and effective treatment for anxiety and depression in individuals where conventional medications have failed. The combined treatment provides powerful results, which are a game-changer for people suffering from depression and anxiety.
