NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS

According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, neurologic disorders affect approximately 50 million Americans each year.

This umbrella includes more than 600 diseases, ranging from stroke and brain tumors to seizure disorders and degenerative diseases, in which nerve cells are damaged or die.

Common neurodegenerative diseases include Alzheimer’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), dementia, and Parkinson’s disease.

Because so much about these conditions remains a mystery, conventional medicine often has a pessimistic perspective regarding treatment and prognosis. Our functional approach, however, has produced exceptional results for patients with these challenging conditions.

Our approach to treatment is different from the top neurologist in NYC. By closely examining every aspect of an individual’s situation, we see how the systems and organs are working together—or not. This comprehensive, personal approach allows us to detect and fix imbalances that may seem unrelated to the issue at hand. But because the body’s systems interact on multiple levels, apparently minor corrections can have an enormous effect on the “big picture” of the brain, body, and nervous system.

SYMPTOMS OF NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS

Signs of neurological conditions can vary widely because the nervous system is involved in many body functions and systems. Some common symptoms include the following:

✅ Anxiety and depression.

✅ Confusion or cognitive changes

✅ Decreased alertness.

✅ Loss of balance and coordination

✅ Memory loss

✅ Muscle weakness

✅ Numbness

✅ Pain.

✅ Partial or complete paralysis

✅ Problems with positional awareness and Tingling or prickling

Symptoms depend on the location and type of nerves that are damaged.

TREATMENT METHODS

Symptoms depend on the location and type of nerves that are damaged.

✅ Anti-inflammatory approaches

✅ Diet.

✅ Medications and supplements to improve brain and nervous system function

Membrane medicine

✅ Mitochondrial medicine

✅ Thyroid supplements

CAUSES OF NEURODEGENERATIVE CONDITIONS

Neurodegenerative conditions such as dementia and Parkinson’s disease involve the gradual loss of the structure and function of neurons. These nerve cells form the basic building blocks of the nervous system, connecting different areas of the brain and connecting the brain with the rest of the body. Many of these diseases have a genetic link. Sometimes the cause is an injury or another medical condition, such as a tumor or stroke. Other causes include viruses and environmental agents, including toxins and chemicals.

Neuropathy, or nerve pain, can result from a number of factors: hypothyroidism, infections, toxins, nutrient deficiencies, and physical injury. Diabetes is the most common cause of neuropathy in the United States.

OUR TESTING

Because the microbiome plays such a critical role in immune system function, we start by testing for bacterial overgrowth and inflammation. Then, we treat the findings accordingly with diet, targeted herbs, and other supplements. In addition, we use autonomic response testing to understand how the body responds to biochemical and energetic signatures, which allows us to detect yeast and parasites that are frequently missed in stool tests. In addition, we use the TRH Stimulation Test to evaluate patients for low thyroid.

ART + SCIENCE = DIAGNOSIS

At Kellman Wellness Center, we blend art and science by examining all of the body’s systems and how they interact. We look for clues in patient behavior, as well as in medical tests, for potential imbalances. Sometimes a seemingly small correction in one area can have a huge impact on a person’s overall ability to think, speak, and control his or her body.

We look deeper to diagnose each person as an individual. We explore such critical and diverse factors as diet, genetics, and environmental stresses. Our broader, yet deeper perspective allows us to create a customized treatment plan for each individual. By combining the best evidence-based and science-based approaches from all over the world, we often achieve extraordinary results for patients, even at advanced stages.
