Covid Long-Haulers The Functional Approach

Studies are showing that many people who tested positive for COVID-19 have persistent symptoms months after, despite negative test results. New research has found that over 75% of those hospitalized for COVID-19 experienced symptoms six months after testing negative.

And long-term effects, known as “Long Haul Covid-19” can affect anyone, not just those who had severe cases of Covid. While persistent symptoms are more common in people who had more severe cases, we are seeing “long haulers” even in those who experienced very mild cases of Covid as well. And the symptoms might not be continuous – you can have symptoms which cease and then return, or never really recover from the initial symptoms.

The most common persistent symptoms:

  • Fatigue
  • Brain Fog
  • Muscle weakness
  • Anxiety
  • Insomnia
  • Respiratory issues

At the Kellman Wellness Center, we have treated several patients who had Covid-19 at the onset of the pandemic – well over a year ago – with symptoms 6-12 months later. Our approach is to address inflammation, which is one of the main causes of the adverse affects of Covid. The inflammatory response, and how it provokes a hyperactive immune response is what causes pulmonary and other damaging symptoms. Inflammation can lead to cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, autonomic nervous system dysregulation, and gastrointestinal problems.

While there are few effective conventional treatments, our holistic, functional approach is very successful. Our approach combines natural anti-inflammatory compounds, immune-boosting modulating compounds including Thyacin Alpha 1 peptide, low dose naltrexone, and certain conventional medications.
